Description

This is a large acrylic painting/collage on stretched canvas. The canvas measures 60 cm tall by 80 cm wide or 2 foot tall by 2 foot 8 inches wide.. This abstract acrylic painting on stretched canvas depicts a resplendent imaginary still life arranged in a mottled green vase. This artwork was created firstly using the alcohol technique which involves dripping alcohol into watery acrylic paint to create 'cells'. Thereafter another wash of watery acrylic paint has crumpled plastic film impressed into it and the outcome suggested the still life you see to me. More details can be found in the video below. This fantastical still life riffs off of natural forms creating new possible flora - all arranged to dramatic effect in a mottled green vase on a table. Soft pink, peach, purple and blue hues are offset against dramatic green foliage. The bold, expressive use of colour and form creates a dynamic composition, where the vase and its contents seem to come alive with energy, inviting the viewer to interpret the vibrant interplay between the abstract elements. This piece could, I think, comfortably be displayed alongside more traditional artwork and could take pride of place above a fireplace or similar.

This picture is supplied varnished with an ultraviolet light-protective varnish which protects against fading and discolouration with time. It is supplied complete with a 1 cm dark wood floating frame. These frames are like shallow boxes or trays in which the picture is mounted with a 3-4 mm 'shadow gap' between the frame and picture. The pictures are affixed using velcro so can be repositioned within the frame or removed to flush mount the frame on a wall. The artwork is supplied ready to hang with D-rings and cord. It comes complete with a certificate of authenticity. .
