Wave: Imagined
In Wave: Imagined, a complex, swirling red wave takes centre stage on stretched canvas, its dynamic form rendered in intricate detail using rich acrylic paint. The wave, imagined rather than literal, undulates with energy and movement, its sweeping curves and sharp peaks suggesting both power and fluidity. The deep reds, layered and textured, evoke a sense of intensity and emotion, while the subtle variations in tone add depth and dimension to the wave's form. This striking composition invites the viewer to consider the forces of nature in both their tangible and abstract forms, offering a visual experience that is at once visceral and imaginative. The piece captures a moment of powerful motion, frozen in time, yet full of potential energy. This artwork started life using the alcohol technique (which creates 'cells') and the plastic wrap technique (which creates 'veins') when alcohol and plastic are used on watery acrylic paint respectively. This image then suggested itself to me.
