This acrylic painting on stretched canvas presents half an abstracted long-eared owl, brought to life through a kaleidoscope of vivid colour. The owl’s distinctive form — its upright posture, elongated ear tufts, and piercing gaze — are captured in a riot of bold colours. Bursts of electric blues, fiery oranges, purples, and vibrant greens swirl around and within the figure, creating a dynamic sense of movement and energy. The composition blends the mystical presence of the owl with a dreamlike, almost psychedelic atmosphere, offering a fresh and imaginative take on this nocturnal creature. A celebration of both nature and colour, the piece invites viewers into a vibrant, enchanted world. This artwork started life using the decalcomania technique whereby a canvas wet with white paint was impressed into crumpled tin foil with primary coloured paint. This video demonstrates the technique on another artwork. It was then further elaborated using acrylic pens.
