Description

This is a large abstract collage/acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The canvas measures 60 cm tall by 80 cm wide or 2 foot tall by 2 foot 8 inches wide. It depicts scattered or falling glittery yellow and red collaged maple leaves set against a deep purple background. The shimmering golden hues of the leaves contrast beautifully with the rich, dark backdrop, evoking a sense of movement and transformation, while the combination of texture and colour brings an ethereal quality to the composition. This piece started as a colourful collage to which successive layers of a red-tinted glaze were applied negatively painting around the maple leaf shapes. A glitter varnish covered the whole piece before applying the final negatively painted purple acrylic paint. A video detailing the process can be found below. Note that the photographs don't really do the effect of the glitter varnish justice - which twinkles in the light!

This picture is supplied varnished with an ultraviolet light-protective varnish which protects against fading and discolouration with time. It is supplied complete with a 1 cm dark wooden floating frame. These frames are like shallow boxes or trays in which the picture is mounted with a 3-4 mm 'shadow gap' between the frame and picture. The pictures are affixed using velcro so can be repositioned within the frame or removed to flush mount the frame on a wall. The artwork is supplied ready to hang with D-rings and cord. It comes complete with a certificate of authenticity. .
