Flowers in an Urn

£65.00

This abstract monochrome print/illustration depicts an urn overflowing with bud-like flowers, their delicate forms spilling from the vessel in a quiet cascade. The monochrome palette enhances the contrast between the smooth, defined contours of the urn and the organic, layered shapes of the budding blooms. The overflowing flowers evoke themes of growth, abundance, and the fragility of life, as they seem to defy the confines of the urn. The composition captures both a sense of fullness and tension — suggesting a balance between containment and the inevitable surge of life. The piece explores themes of renewal, the passage of time, and the beauty found in unexpected flourishing. This picture started life with a combination of the plastic film and the alcohol techniques whereby crumpled plastic is impressed into, and alcohol is sprinkled onto wet paint respectively. This produces an interesting effect which suggested this image to me. More information can be found here.
