Winter Sentinel

Standing watch over the quiet winter landscape, Winter Sentinel celebrates the quiet resilience and enduring spirit of the robin, one of Britain's most cherished garden birds. Created using layers of hand-cut carefully selected decorative papers, the artwork combines rich textures with bold colour to create a contemporary interpretation of this familiar winter visitor.

The robin is framed by a luminous aureole, symbolising warmth, hope and renewal during the darkest months of the year. Inspired by medieval iconography and illuminated manuscripts, this radiant motif transforms an everyday garden bird into a timeless emblem of comfort and resilience.

Part of my Aureole Collection, Winter Sentinel blends the flowing decorative qualities of Art Nouveau with the spontaneity of modern collage, celebrating nature and the beauty that can be found even in the stillness of winter. It offers a striking focal point for any interior and brings a sense of warmth and optimism throughout the year.
