I created this richly layered collage to celebrate UK Fungus Day on Saturday 10 October 2026 — a small reminder of the extraordinary world beneath our feet.
Fungi are essential recyclers, breaking down dead matter and returning nutrients to the soil, helping ecosystems regenerate and new life to grow. Destruction is not always an ending; in nature, breaking down is often the beginning of something new.
Fungal Folio is a richly layered celebration of the woodland floor, bringing together an exuberant collection of mushrooms, butterflies and botanical forms. Vintage botanical imagery, handwritten script and Art Nouveau flourishes create a nostalgic, dreamlike backdrop, while the abundance of colourful fungi gives the composition energy and character.
Fungal Folio is available for purchase in the Enchanted Botanica Gallery.
