My favourite season — Autumn — has inspired artists, poets and writers for centuries, through its colour, changing light, falling leaves and sense of transition.
In Artists on Autumn, I bring together a selection of thoughts and observations from artists including Vincent van Gogh, John Constable, Camille Pissarro, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andrew Wyeth, David Hockney and John Keats, exploring the many different ways they have responded to the season.
From the richness of autumn colour to its melancholy, warmth, energy and quiet beauty, these words offer a glimpse into how artists have seen — and felt — autumn.
