Russet Reverie

Part of my Aureole Collection, Russet Reverie is a richly layered mixed-media collage portraying a fox emerging from a luxuriant gathering of foliage. The fox is constructed from fragments of vintage papers, handwritten text, patterned papers and botanical imagery, giving its face a wonderfully tactile, fragmented character, while the vivid yellow eye provides a striking focal point.

Behind the fox, a pale blue-green circular aureole creates a quiet, dreamlike space against the warm, distressed damask background. A profusion of patterned leaves in russet, coral, ochre, olive, emerald and deep green sweeps upward around the animal and spills beyond the lower border, adding movement and abundance.
