Forest Fawn

In this monochrome print/acrylic painting on paper, a fawn and two owls stand in quiet vigilance within a fantastical forest. The delicate form of the fawn, paired with the watchful gaze of the owls, creates a serene yet mysterious atmosphere, as the figures seem to blend with the ethereal surroundings. The monochrome palette adds depth to the composition, where shadows and light define the intricate textures of the forest floor, the juvenile form of the fawn, and the piercing eyes of the owls. This otherworldly scene suggests a moment suspended in time, where nature’s creatures observe and protect the forest’s secrets. Themes of guardianship, stillness, and the interconnectedness of life are evoked through this tranquil yet potent depiction of the wild. This artwork started life using the plastic film technique whereby crumpled film is impressed into watery acrylic paint. The result then suggested this image to me.
